Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about renting Spirit Hall.

Can we hold a wedding ceremony at Spirit Hall?

No. As a Catholic organization, we believe weddings are sacred and should be celebrated in a church setting, in accordance with the Sacrament of Marriage. However, we warmly welcome wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, and anniversary celebrations.

Why is insurance required for events with alcohol?

Proof of liability insurance protects both you and the venue from potential risks including accidents, property damage, or alcohol-related incidents.

What type of insurance is needed?

You need a Special Event Liability Insurance policy with host liquor liability coverage, listing Spirit Hall as additional insured. Minimum coverage is $1,000,000 in general liability plus liquor liability.

Where can we get event insurance?

You can obtain event liability insurance from your personal insurance provider or through specialized event insurance companies such as: Angell & Co, The Event Helper, Wedsure, or Hiscox.

Does the insurance requirement apply if we hire a licensed bartender or caterer?

Yes. Even if your bartender or caterer carries their own insurance, you as the renter must still provide event liability with liquor liability coverage.

What proof of insurance is required?

A Certificate of Insurance listing Spirit Hall as additional insured, with the specified coverage limits and liquor liability coverage included.

What happens if we don't provide proof of insurance?

The venue may prohibit alcohol service or cancel the rental agreement. This requirement is firm.

Can we reschedule our event?

Yes, if you reschedule more than 90 days in advance, your deposit can transfer to the new date. Rescheduling within 90 days may result in forfeiture of your deposit.

Can we access the lake or waterfront?

No. Lake access is strictly prohibited for all renters and guests. This includes fishing, swimming, and use of the shoreline.

What time does the event need to end?

Music and alcohol service must end by midnight. All guests must vacate the premises by 1:00 a.m.

Are we responsible for cleanup?

Yes. After your event you must store all tables and chairs, sweep the floors, and dispose of trash properly. You may optionally pay an additional cleaning fee to have the venue professionally cleaned.

Can we use nails or tape for decorations?

No. Nails, tacks, and tape are not permitted on walls or ceilings. You must use the designated hooks provided for hanging decorations.

Can I get in early to setup and decorate?

All setup and tear-down time must be included in your rental period. If you need early access, please contact the rental coordinator to extend your booking.
